Prefab housing….

In my town, your price tag would probably exceed $550,000 for a 2000 sf home. That compares to $220,000 for an average 2000 sf stick-built neighborhood house. So, your paying a significant premium for your house of the future.

Now, to be fair, I know I’m comparing apples to oranges. The FlatPak house is a semi-custom product with some cutting-edge architectural design elements. You are also pickin up potential quality improvements by using manufactured modular elements. I guess I would just like to see these advanced features built into a structure that would allow significant cost savings over traditional building concepts.

I think we’re at a pivotal point in the progress of prefab production. The architects have proven they can design appealing structures with prefab components. Now it’s time for the business men to come in and work the numbers and supply chains.
